Prof. Dr. Banoğlu has more than 30 years of drug discovery experience in Medicinal Chemistry. After graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy, he received his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Iowa (USA) in 1997. Throughout his academic career, he conducted research in biomedical sciences at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland), Kumamoto University (Japan), and the University of Rhode Island (USA).

He currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Gazi University. His research group focuses on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic molecules targeting cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases.

Prof. Dr. Banoğlu is a co-founder of the drug R&D companies OncoCube Therapeutics (USA) and Icosyn Therapeutics (Turkey). An oncology drug candidate developed by his team has been licensed to a US-based pharmaceutical company and has advanced to Phase I clinical trials.
